Players are now rewarded for their good performances throughout the season, and individuals can be affected by the ebb and flow of morale. Many of this year's new features involve the NFL players themselves, however, calling upon gamers to maintain and develop their star athletes.

The "2005" edition of the best-selling Madden NFL sports game series hits the field with another new season's worth of refinements and additions.On my laptop I get a black screen for about 10 seconds before the intro video appears, so if you get a black screen initially, don't panic - eventually you should be greeted by the EA Sports intro followed by the main menu.
If the game does not launch, try exiting DxWnd and re-running it as an administrator. Double click on the Madden NFL 06 line to start the game. You should see "Madden NFL 06" listed in the main menu with a green light next to it. Select the Madden NFL 06 profile from the list and click open. Next, download this file and place it in your DxWnd/exports folder. Download it and unzip the contents to a folder of your choice. You can work around it by running the game through a program called DxWnd, which is available at SourceForge. This seems to be a DirectX-related error. Clicking through this popup leads to another box claiming your device "Does Not support the current technique." Clicking OK dumps you back to the desktop. When starting the game, you might receive a black screen, followed by a "CreateDevice failed" error popup. Error - CreateDevice Failed / Device Does Not Support the Queried Technique
